A1 Steam
Locomotive Trust. Building 60163 Tornado
- not a replica, but the 50th Peppercorn Pacific. Nearly complete (April 2008) and looking
good.
Romney, Hythe
and Dymchurch Railway. A railway in
miniature, but not a toy - it provides a local transport facility as well as a
leisure amenity. Some of the locomotives are modelled on Gresley's A1 Pacifics;
Gresley was a friend of the railway's builder, and was photographed there
riding on a special train driven by the Duke of York (later King George VI).
Railways and Music. A catalogue of music which describes, or was
inspired by, locomotives and railways. Recording references given where
available.
LNER
Pacific Workings. The aim is to
compile a database containing all recorded workings of LNER Pacifics, V2s and
the W1, from the first A1 being delivered in 1922 to the last engine being
withdrawn in 1966. A valuable research
resource.

The English Civil War
Society. I have a soft spot for this
Society, ever since my older son spent his weekends marching round muddy fields
with a pike . This is either a high-minded study of history in a practical
form, or a socially-acceptable way for young men to drink lots of beer and
fight each other without annoying anyone else! Either way, it is a Good Thing.
